THE CHILD AND FAMILY COUNSELING GROUP

The Child and Family Counseling Group (CFCG) is a highly respected and qualified group of psychologists, psychiatrists and social workers. As a managed IT services client, we handle all aspects of their technology. Matrix has researched, recommended and assisted with the implementation of a new electronic medical records (EMR) system. We’ve worked hard to come up with the outlined strategy below.

Our Strategy

  • Determine requirements of new software, including needs, wants and nice-to-haves
  • Research available options via vendor websites, meetings and industry research
  • Deliver final recommendations; implement and support our solutions

The Research

Matrix gathered information from vendor websites, sites that are popular within the medical community and conversations with vendors. Matrix identified all potential issues with the various programs and examined product reviews to eliminate any obviously poor choices. Matrix also consulted the IT community across the country for additional insight.

Provide the Solution

Upon competition of research, Matrix presented three different solutions that met all of CFCG’s needs, with options varying slightly in additional benefits. CFCG chose the vendor that offered them the greatest benefits while still being cost-effective. They selected a solution that involved a complete implementation by the vendor. Matrix provided training on this new software to gain a working knowledge in order to support them.

IT Services

Resolution Since Implementation

CFCG has been immensely satisfied with the solution recommended by Matrix. They no longer deal with frustrating downtime and connectivity issues. With the cloud-based software, they can utilize it in a way to promote further efficiency and increase their patient satisfaction. In conclusion, CFCG and Matrix have worked together to find the best solution possible that works for them.

TWIN CONTRACTING CORPORATION

In the beginning of a seven-plus year relationship, Matrix handled Twin Contracting Corporation’s IT needs on an on-call basis. A few years in, Twin Contracting Corporation expressed the need for more efficient, automated operations and access to their data and applications remotely. They entered into Matrix’s All Bases Covered IT agreement, allowing Matrix to provide comprehensive management of their infrastructure.

To initiate this agreement and help Twin Contracting Corporation achieve their goals, Matrix dove into their operations and infrastructure. The findings provided the basis for a three-year strategy to bring Twin Contracting Corporation up to speed and into a cutting-edge hybrid cloud-based architecture.

Our Strategy

  • Stabilize on-premise resources
  • Institute a mobility solution for field staff at five locations
  • Migrate construction operations to the cloud

On-Premise Resources

Step one was to stabilize the office operations. Twin’s existing servers were old and unreliable. Matrix crafted a strategy to get new hardware in place and virtualize the accounting server, while keeping it on the same platform as the file server.

IT solutions

Consistent and Responsive Service

At the beginning of the process, the mobility solution in place was a mixture of smartphones, not-so-smart phones and aging laptops. To put a cloud-based solution in place with access to sensitive information, a new approach was needed.

Construction Operations

Twin conducted operations via a mix of paper-based forms, fax machines and email. This process worked but was time intensive and prone to errors. To be successful, we had to roll disparate parts into a cohesive whole.

Matrix delivered the strategy as well as a three-year plan for on-premise equipment overhaul, all in the context of an ongoing budget that allowed the client to anticipate costs. This strategy also anticipated the development of the next-gen platform for Twin, including hardware and software. The result was a secure, accessible network for teams both in-office and in the field. Twin Contracting Corporation and Matrix Computer Consulting have worked together ever since.

PURNELL, MCKENNETT & MENKE

Purnell, McKennett & Menke is a local law firm that argues a wide range of business and personal cases from the Virginia state courts, up to the U.S. Supreme Court. They needed someone reliable to handle their IT, so they contacted Matrix Computer Consulting.

At first, it seemed that it might not be possible to hire an IT company at a cost that would work for the law firm’s operations, but Purnell, McKennett & Menke and Matrix Computer Consulting worked together to come up with an IT plan that was both affordable and secure. Now Purnell, McKennett & Menke can focus on their normal operations, rather than on fixing their computers.

Our Strategy

  • Update and provide software that brings Purnell, McKennett & Menke to a current and secure IT system at a low cost
  • Deliver consistent, convenient and responsive service that allows Purnell, McKennett & Menke to run with minimized downtime
  • Ensure employees receive as much information as needed to use their technology effectively, safely and easily

Affordable Help

MMatrix had to make sure that its plan was affordable for Purnell, McKennett & Menke to implement. With lower costs, Matrix would have to provide adequate benefits to ensure that Purnell, McKennett & Menke’s computers would still run safely. Matrix came up with a clear plan that provided a middle ground.

IT solutions

Consistent and Responsive Service

Matrix provided on-site support for Purnell, McKennett, Menke without the cost of paying us to be at their offices full time. Matrix also monitors their network 24/7. They can trust that our team will be available for support even if their network goes down at an awkward time.

Minimum Downtime

Matrix worked hard to provide a plan for Purnell, Mckennett & Menke that provided safety and convenience at a low cost. Safety is ensured by making sure their company doesn’t suffer from poorly installed software or hardware, or from malicious attacks like viruses and hackers.

Finally, Purnell, McKennett & Menke and Matrix Computer Consulting have worked hard to find the best fit for the law firm, while not breaking the bank.

CHANTILLY AIR

Chantilly Air began as a single jet, corporate flight department in 1990 and has enjoyed tremendous success and growth over the years. Early on, the company handled IT internally, calling on Matrix Computer Consulting only for break/fix support. As the company began growing rapidly, they turned over their technology to Matrix and asked for help in scaling their infrastructure.

“With our growth came additional IT business requirements. Our growth had extended beyond our in-house knowledge base, and our technology was getting complex. We also needed to add additional servers and enable two remote sites to access the main server securely,”

-Chantilly Air COO Tim Sullivan

“Given Chantilly Air’s growth and critical IT requirements, we took swift action in moving them from break/fix to a proactively managed IT environment,” said Matrix Computer Consulting CEO Andrew Harrover.

Matrix began by updating hardware and installing the MAX platform by LOGICnow on all servers and desktops.

“Chantilly Air is a 24/7 business. We wanted to ensure that we could monitor the health of the application and database on a 24/7 basis, with the MAX platform we can do that,” said Andrew.

VULNERABILITIES

REVEALED & ADDRESSED

Setting up a proactive managed IT environment proved to have immediate payoff because it alerted Matrix that the prior antivirus software set up by Chantilly Air hadn’t been working. In addition, the MAX platform uncovered another critical issue – Chantilly Air was losing power for extended periods of time during thunderstorms. Seeing this, Matrix recommended upgrades to the company’s electrical system.

“Before the electrical system was upgraded, a thunderstorm came through and the power was flicking on and off every 10 seconds,” said Andrew. “As a result of MAX we immediately knew about it. We were able to get out there and shut everything down before it became a complete disaster.”

The benefits of making the switch to a managed IT services environment extends beyond enhancing the performance and security of Chantilly Air’s technical systems. It also allows Tim and his team to focus on their core expertise, doing what they love.

“I’m a pilot, not an IT guy. I’m responsible for keeping everyone safe, building the business and ensuring we have happy, satisfied clients and employees,” said Tim. “Furthermore, turning over our technology to be proactively managed has enabled me to stay focused on these other critical priorities.”

In conclusion, Chantilly Air and Matrix Computer Consulting partnered together to find the best solution possible for their unique needs.
